Masala is an indigenous genre to Hindi Cinema. Now the question that arises is what makes Bollywood movies so entertaining? Well, the answer is the Masala movies that Bollywood loves making. Remember that dialogue from Vidya Balan starred Dirty Picture, “Filmein bas teen cheezo se chalti hain- Entertainment, Entertainment aur Entertainment.” Hindi language based cinema constitutes the highest percentage of gross box office revenue.
It is interesting to note that India and not Hollywood is the highest producer of feature films, per annum. The word “Bollywood” comes from the blending of Bombay and Hollywood. Bollywood or Hindi cinema is the film industry in India that is centered in Mumbai (formerly known as Bombay).
